LIGHT CYCLE Is a project that presents two curtains that illustrate the cycles of natural light in an urban home. The curtains help you to experience the change of time in parallel with the change of the luminaries in nature.

I grew up in the village and when I started design studies I moved to the city, I noticed that the windows of the houses are often blocked by buildings, creating a feeling of disconnection from the outside environment. The windows have a significant impact on our quality of life. They determine how much natural light enters the house. Throughout history, humanity has established the clock and calendars according to the sun and moon. In the city, there is a blurring of the sense of time, which leads to a sense of disconnection from the outside.

In the SOLAR CYCLE curtain, there are shadows that change during the day in parallel with the movement of the sun. The curtain is hung with bamboo clips. This method of hanging allows for more acceptance and less regulated hanging. You can hang several fabrics together and create layers that give a sense of depth and width to the window.

The LUNAR CYCLE curtain illustrates with the help of LED lighting the change of the moon and time in the month. The lighting in the curtain turns on and off at the same time as the moon rises and falls. When there is a full moon all the light stripes in the curtain are lit together.

I chose to make the curtains from natural materials with a high ecological level - bamboo, linen, and sheep wool felt. Both curtains bring the hidden fasteners to the front of the stage and replace the customary sewing in the field. The fasteners function as construction and create a new organic aesthetic.
